On 2nd March 2016, Ambassador Atifmal joined a 4 days conference on “The 2nd Asia-Pacific Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation in conjunction with the 16th International Convention on Melaka Twin Cities”, organized by “ICLEI” in collaboration with the Melaka State Government in Melaka city, Malaysia.
In his speech followed by stressing on the importance of such conferences, he shed light on several issues that Kabul city is currently suffering.
Overpopulation and its consequences to the Kabul, Government’s plans on establishing New Kabul City to divert contemporary overpopulation to the new city, and the future programs on urban greenery were among the topics which Ambassador Atifmal spoke about.
At this meeting, Mr. Atifmal invited Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron to visit Kabul at his convenience.
The program which aimed on create awareness on issues such as climate changes, unplanned urbanization, changing precipitation patterns, and increase in population, lasted for 4 days hosting more than 500 individuals consist of over 200 International delegations from 31 countries.
