Embassy held commemoration ceremony of the martyrs’ week

Friday, September 15, 2017, The Embassy of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan held commemoration ceremony of the martyrs’ week, 16th martyrdom anniversary of the National Hero Ahmad Shah Masoud and 6th martyrdom anniversary of Martyr of Peace Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani.

Around 100 Afghan professors, students, businessmen and Afghans residing in Malaysia participated in recitation of Quran Karim in honour of those who sacrificed their lives in war and conflict of Afghanistan.

Further, Ambassador H.E. Atiqullah Atifmal read the message of H.E. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan regarding the Martyrs’ week. He also spoke of the importance of the sacrifices made by Afghans in order to bring peace, prosperity, and freedom to the country. He also spoke of the leadership role of Ahmad Shah Masood during the Jihad period and his struggles in bringing unity among Afghans. He also praised the efforts made by Professor Rabbani in ending the current conflict.

In addition, Ambassador also provided information about the efforts and the achievements of the Afghan Embassy in Malaysia during the last one-year as well as the plans for the future.

The program ended by paying tribute to martyrs of the nation and by expressing solidarity and sympathy with the victims and their families who lost their loved ones in the three decades of conflict.
