Tuesday, August 22, 2017, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Kuala Lumpur celebrated the 98th anniversary of the Independence Day of Afghanistan on the eve of the actual date of 19 August, in the Ritz-Carlton hotel.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato’ Razali bin Ibrahim, 45 Ambassadors and Charge d’affaires, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of International Trade, MCCM, MATRADE, Malaysian Universities officials, Afghan Professors and Students from various universities, as well as Afghan and Malaysian businessmen attended the reception.
The program initiated with the national anthems of Afghanistan and Malaysia and the speech of the Ambassador, H.E. Atiqullah Atifmal, elaborating the Malaysia-Afghanistan relations, and the investment opportunities in Afghanistan.
H.E. Atifmal welcomed the participation of the Malaysian investors and stated the Malaysia is a potential partner to explore the economic opportunities in the sectors of mining, agriculture, infrastructure development, information technology and energy as well as the Ambassador mentioned that Afghanistan’s unique geographic location makes it an important link between South and central Asia.
In the event, Matin Rahmani, a student in the International Islamic University of Malaysia, who secured first place in Malay Language Competition and awarded by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, was appreciated by the Ambassador.
