Wednesday, March 22, 2017, the Embassy of the I.R. of Afghanistan in Kuala Lumpur celebrated the Islamic New Year (Hijri Shamsi) with the collaboration of Afghan students studying in Malaysia.
H.E. Atiqullah Atifmal, the Ambassador of the I.R. of Afghanistan in Kuala Lumpur on behalf of H.E. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the CEO, and H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, wished the guests a happy, prosperous and peaceful year 1396.
During this program, the embassy appreciated two professors Dr. Mohammad Hashem Kamali and Dr. Abdul Qahar Sarwari for their outstanding achievements in their academic field. It is worth mentioning that Professor Dr. Mohammad Hashem Kamali is one of the Afghan professors who is a world renowned scholar in his field of specialisation. He has achieved a tremendous respect in the Islamic world and specifically in Malaysia through his contribution in authoring many books about the moderation of Islam. He is also a founding CEO of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies in Malaysia.
Dr. Abdul Qahar Sarwari obtained his PhD from the Universiti Malaysia Pahang. He designed and developed a model of the “Relationship between communication competence and heart rate variability”. He is also the author of 9 academic papers which are published in academic journals in Malaysia as well as 5 academic research papers which will be published in world well-known academic journals. A book authored by Dr. Sarwari will soon be published and taught in Universiti Putra Malaysia.
The Embassy also appreciated the 2 masters and 23 bachelor Afghan students studying in Malaysia who achieved a CGPA above 3.5.
The program was ended by the cultural show, poem reading and cultural national dance (Athan) by the students.
