On April 16, 2016 H.E. Atiqullah Atifmal, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Kuala Lumpur, attended the Fourth Abdullah Yusuf Ali Memorial Lecture and Books Launching Ceremony at the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia. The current lecture was entitled ‘English as a modern literary language of Islam: The significance of Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s translation of the Qur’an’. During this lecture H.E. Ambassador had the privilege to meet The Hon. Tun Abdullah Badawi, former Prime Minister and current chairman of IAIS Malaysia. In this glorious event the Ambassador also met many other notable speakers and attendees, including The Hon. Sri Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, former Secretary General of ASEAN, Professor Dr. Mohammad Hashim Kamali, Founding CEO of IAIS Malaysia along with Professor Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, Chairman of Islamic Book Trust (IBT) Malaysia and Associate Professor Dr. Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil, Deputy CEO of IAIS Malaysia. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Malaysia is grateful to IAIS Malaysia for kindly extending the invitation to the Ambassador and also for the organization of such an interesting and comprehensive lecture and ceremony.
